From My Perspective | Tacoma Documentary Photographer

I don't typically *plan* to take my camera with me. I prefer to have it on me, but it isn't often that I remember to take bring it for a specific reason. Some people might think it's excessive to lug around a DSLR at all times, but with the right bag, (mine is just a $40 bag from H&m), it isn't heavy and doesn't look like I'm carrying expensive equipment. Having my camera with me almost everywhere I go means that I have the chance to capture exactly what I'm seeing in my head. You know, those details that you remember for years. I get to print and hold onto my memories, literally and figuratively.

I try my best to get the light just as is it in real life and with a touch of my style of editing, I couldn't think of a better way to preserve my memories. Photography is truly something that is close to my heart for that very reason.

When I think about details I think about what kind of day it is. What the weather felt like. What song was playing. The way my husband looks when he looks over to check on our daughter before he has to leave the state. They way my kids are both super happy to eat but express their emotions differently. I want nothing more than to just remember forever. I want to remember the life we have during the happy, the stressful, the messy, and yes even the boring times.

Side note: I've been trying really hard to be fully vegan. Some weeks are better than others but I'm almost positive I've found the cure for some of my so called cravings. This was the first time we have experienced the food at Quickie Too in Tacoma and my goodness I'm still speechless!
